There are a lot of things that can be done to get your body closer to the shape you want it to be. One type of exercise that has been around for nearly a century is pilates. This physical fitness system has been gaining great popularity in recent years as a simple, natural way to improve your strength, flexibility and overall health.
Pilates body sculpting uses various body positions and aerobics to strengthen and stretch the muscles of the body. It was developed using some of the philosophy of yoga as it's base. It has as it's goal the fusion of body and mind, so that the body will move gracefully, without the need to engage the mind.
Because pilates body sculpting does not involve resistance training and is low impact, this type of exercise system is recommended for the elderly and overweight, as it should not cause too much strain on their bodies.
In Pilates body sculpting, certain areas of the body are targeted, but the philosophy is that most important is the “core” which are the muscles of the abdomen, lower back, hips and buttocks. Every exercise is based in this area, and then moves out to the limbs.
Because of this great emphasis on the “powerhouse” or “core” chiropractors recommend pilates body sculpting for strengthening the back and spine. Some other benefits of a pilates body sculpting regime are easier mobility in the joints, a thinner waist and thighs and a flatter stomach. Also, because of the strong emphasis on proper breathing, circulation improves.
For those looking for a great workout that requires no jumping or lifting but is still very effective in toning muscle, developing strenth and slimming the waist and stomach, pilates body sculpting is an excellent choice. Pilates supreme is also a great regimen and has levels for beginners, too, so you can start straight into pilates supreme as your fitness program if you choose to.
As with any diet or exercise regime, you should consult your physician before you begin to ensure that you have found the right exercise for you body type and needs.
